Needy families

Second family we delivered goods to was a single mom with a 3 year old son.

December 28th, 2010

Today Vicki and some of her staff went to deliver some food for 2 needy families and Fil and I also went.
The 1st family had 6 kids, the oldest is 13 years old and the youngest is 7 months old. Her husband passed away 1 year ago and now had a new boyfriend. They all live in a very small place. My jaw fell to the floor when we walked in because I could not believe the living conditions of this family. It smelled horrible, the house was in very bad condition that you would never imagine a family of 8 living in there. Tears were rolling down my face when I saw 4 of the 6 kids who were so dirty and had the saddest faces I’ve ever seen. I was hiding because I did not want them to see me and I didn’t want to offend them either. I’ve delivered food and toys many times at Christmas time in Canada to needy families but I have never seen this in my entire life. All I kept thinking was, “and I’m complaining about my problems that our adoption is difficult and that our decision has been delayed 2 weeks”. It doesn’t mean I’m not hurt at the fact of being taken advantage of or the fact of being treated so inhuman but it gives me a different prospective on life and my little problems.

"Live, Love, Laugh"

We should stop complaining about what we don’t have and be more grateful of everything that we do have.

"Life's Qualities"

The quality of life is in the mind, Not in material things.
The world is filled with beauty, when your heart is filled with love.
So live everyday of your life as though it were your last.
Cherish yesterday, dream tomorrow, Live today.

"Thank you"

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times,
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations,
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge,
Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes,
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary,
Because it means you’ve made an effort.

It’s easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.

Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they will become your blessings.

New Year’s Celebration at Ulan Orphanage

Director and assistant directors of Ulan Orphanage

December 28th, 2010

Today we went to deliver gifts for some of the kids at Ulan Orphanage. The kids and the caregivers were all dressed up for the New Year Celebration. We all danced with the kids and enjoyed ourselves very much.
December 27th, 2010

We were supposed to have our observation day on the 27th but it was postponed for the 28th because the judge was busy with another couple’s court case. The 28th the judge postponed our observation day again (date unknown) because he was busy with another couple’s court case. No hurry in having our observation because the judge will only be giving us our decision mid January because he’s too busy with all these files and also because of the holidays.
Very disappointed, especially after we were told we would be getting our decision before the New Year............... BUT, it is what it is and we wait.

New Year’s Celebration at Saramoldaeva Orphanage

Vicki and Fil in a competition as to who can carry the most glitter on a spoon from 1 plate to the other. It was so funny because the glitter was so light and kept falling off the spoon.

My buddy Kristina and I
Biological mom came to visit her kids at the orphanage and also see them perform in the show.
December 26th, 2010

Today we went to delivery gifts for some of the kids at Saramoldaeva orphanage with Vicki and Beth. The kids and caregivers were all dressed up because they prepared a nice show for the New Year Celebration. We then played games, danced with them and had a great time together. The kids had a lot of fun and were so happy and so did we.

Christmas

Damira and I

December 25th, 2010

2nd Christmas in Kazakhstan which means 2nd year no shopping in crazy crowded shopping centres.......... Yahoo!!!!!

Christmas day we went to see Dylan in the morning and had a very nice visit. We gave him a small present, dressed him up in a new red, white and black track suit and gave him some cake which he adored!!!
In the evening all the adoptive families and Damira (our favourite Taraz local) all went to have supper at The Bear Restaurant.

Fil and I wrapped gifts for Vicki to give to her interlink staff.
