Today after our visit at the orphanage we went to meet Jeremy, Becky, Matt, and Nathalie at their hotel because we were going on a picnic. Damira who works at the Hotel Zhambyl where Jeremy and Becky have been staying at since they arrived in Kazakhstan in late December organized everything for all of us.
She bought all the food, drinks, hired a driver and we had an AWESOME TIME!!! She cooked up a delicious meal at the park. I felt like we were back in our parents time washing dishes in the river, chopping chicken and vegetables on the picnic table, using the river as a fridge for our drinks and the lovely bathroom as always………. A hole in the ground!!!! After the meal, she organized a guided visit in the mountains. As the guide was explaining to everyone to be careful where we walk and mentioned to look out for snakes I immediately refused to go!!! LOL!!!! So I (Mary of course) stayed behind and waited for them while they went through the forest up the mountains sightseeing for 2 hours.
I must say we really had a great time and it was really nice getting away and not thinking about anything!!!!!! Another nice taste to Kazakh culture!!! I have to say Damira, Becky, Jeremy, Matt, Nathalie our driver Gagni were all amazing company to be with. The whole 1.5 hr drive back home we sang and danced like idiots in the mini-van!!!!
