We received a copy of the May 18th court refusal and we read that some of the documents we had updated before coming to Kazakhstan were not valid because they were not validated by the consular of Kazakhstan in Ottawa. So we questioned them about this and they informed us that usually they accept it but this time they didn’t. They said by law these documents must be validated but in the past have always accepted the files even if they were not. So it was clear the judge was just trying to add some negativity to our refusal letter. So we were given the choice of either coming back to Canada to get these documents updated and validated or trying from here. The documents we need are: 1- new letter of employment, 2- police certificate and 3- medical certificate. The only problem was we were told that it might not be possible for someone else to get us the police certificate and for the medical certificate we would have to go get them done in Almaty, which is very far (either 10 hrs by train or 1.5 hrs by plane). So as soon as our meeting was over Fil immediately contacted his brother to let him know he had some work to do for us ASAP and keep in mind this was Thursday night! Our good friend Antonella and Mario (Fil’s brother) called us back a couple of hours later and let us know it was possible, as long as we provided a signed letter authorizing Mario to go on our behalf with 2 pieces of picture id’s. We prepared our letter and then we had to find a place with a scan and a printer.
