Today we went back with Vicki and 2 of her staff members to the needy family that we went last week. Fil and I offered to buy the family groceries because we felt horrible when we saw them last week and we really wanted to do something to help them out. We cannot stop thinking about those poor helpless kids.

It’s nice to receive but it’s even nicer to give, especially for those kids who really need it.

Vicki brought them a whole bunch of knitted clothing such as sweaters, hats, socks, blankets, mittens and scarves.
The mother and her boyfriend were not there which means the kids were left unsupervised. The 13 year old daughter was there and did not seem to want to talk very much, she just stayed on the bed. The younger kids were happy to see us come in with all the groceries and warm clothing. Had a better look at the house because the adults were not there and it’s worse than I thought. The house is very small with 4 tiny rooms for 5 kids and 2 adults, had no running water and no bathroom. They have 2 dogs outside who are really skinny, cold and in very bad shape. The 8 year old girl held her 7 month sister like she had so many years of experience.
The oldest three have an Uzbeck father and we are not sure where he is or if he is alive. The youngest two had a Russian father who died last year. There currently is a man living there but they are not married.
The house is filthy dirty, but does have a wood stove type heating system and the house was warm on the second visit. The children are just as dirty as the house and the youngest two have colds with lots of rattling in their lungs.
The mother could volunteer to put the children in the orphanages and they would be much better cared for, but she would lose the money she gets from the Government to care for them.
