This afternoon we were invited at Vicki’s and Beth’s house for the Birthdays of some children from Saramoldaeva Orphanage. Vicki organizes a birthday party at her house for the children who celebrated their birthdays within the last 2 months. It gives the children an opportunity to see how things are out of the Orphanage. They get to see what real life is all about in a typical home. They help prepare home cooked meals, bake, set the table, clean up after eating and wash dishes which they never do at the orphanage.
There were five children celebrating their birthdays. Sasha 7yrs old, Kristina 10 yrs old, Gulchitai 14yrs old, Sasha 14 yrs old and Nurzhan 16 yrs old.
There were also two employees from the Interlink Office; Zarina and Mohan. It’s amazing the work they do for the children. Very hard workers and dedicated to their jobs.
The children prepared pizzas and baked chocolate chip cookies. After we finished eating they all cleaned up the table and washed the dishes. We then went in the living room area and the older children played Rummy 500 and the younger ones were coloring, drawing, making bubbles and also taking a lot of pictures with our camera. Sasha and Kristina were the two youngest children and they were the ones snapping away pictures. They really enjoyed it.
At the end Nurzhan played and sang two beautiful Kazakh songs with Beth’s guitar. The voice that came out of this boy was beautiful. When he started to sing and play it was very touching even though we didn’t understand the words. Both songs were absolutely beautiful but when we heard the translator translating the 2nd song our hearts fell to the floor: “I Miss You Mama”!!
The talent this boy has is AMAZING.
It was another fabulous experience we had with Vicki and the children. We thank you so much for inviting us and sharing what you do for these kids with us. You are terrific people. We are very grateful to have known such beautiful people like Vicki and Beth. You make our life so much easier when we spend time with you.
